It's Nearly Over!

I hate election season. I hate the inane commercials. I hate candidates claiming that that the world will end if we don’t elect them, and oh, by the way, their opponent is Satan incarnate. I hate the fear mongering, and the ridiculous hyperbole. But mostly I hate the fact that it seems like there often isn’t any real choice.

The candidates claim there’s a choice (between them, Angel Von Sainthood, and their opponent, Evil McBad-Choice), but, if you dig a little deeper, you can find things about each of them that you won’t like. After all they are human beings. Face it, there isn’t any politician that hasn’t promoted something you are against. Or voted for something you didn’t want. Or voted against something that you thought was a good idea.

So no matter who you pick, you’re not going to get what you want. Especially since everyone knows politicians LIE to get elected. Then they lie to stay elected, or to move up the political ladder. You know it, I know it, all politicians know it.

Frankly if I could find someone running for office who admitted that the voters wouldn’t like everything they did, that they would have to compromise on some of the things they wanted once they were in office, and that they weren’t that different from their opponent, I’d vote for that person. Don’t worry, I’m not holding my breath.
