Fire Power
Sorry about Friday. My computer went out on me. It turns out the power cord was broken. Here is another bit of fiction. Enjoy. Fire Power by Rebecca Lickiss Ari padded along silently in the wake of the clamorous titan. The climb was steep and strenuous, but Ari had no fear of losing his quarry. Between the noise and destruction, the titan left a path that couldn't be missed. A path lined with Laurel branches, smashed and broken, their soft, fragrant, green innerwood expose
The Curse of the Fuwa, Part 2
So here is part 2 (final) of the short story, The Curse of the Fuwa * * * * * “There's no such thing as curses,” Stan said stoutly as they stood together on the sidewalk three days later, after the water had gone down, looking at the wreak of their home. The yard was a gigantic mud puddle There was no sign of the neatly trimmed grass. The stakes for the tree they'd planted when they moved in were gone. The tree the stakes had supported lay almost flat in the mud, with one bra
The Curse of the Fuwa, Part 1
Okay, so this is first draft of a short story. So it is subject to change if I come up with a better idea. Or if I just decide to add or edit it. So don't judge me too harshly. I'm going to post it in two or three parts this week. Enjoy part 1. The Curse of the Fuwa, Part 1 “Do you know a Noire Tenebris?” Stan asked as he walked in the door carrying a FedEx parcel. The rich, delicious scent of chocolate chip cookies filled the neat home. Peeking around the kitchen doorwa
Happy Valentines Day
Happy Valentines Day! Sorry I missed getting the blog up the last week. I finally succumbed to the sinus infection. I eventually went to the doctor to get the antibiotics. I should be human again soon. I am sorry I didn't get the blog done. But back to Valentines Day. My husband died a little over three years ago. I don't miss flowers and presents on Valentines day; we never did that. I was way too cheap to be interested in spending money on frivolities. However, we always bo
The Cat's Out of the Bag
Another quick bit of flash fiction from the Horde: The Cat's Out of the Bag by Rebecca Lickiss “Me O is back!” Jack shouted as he picked the large black cat up. He stroked the silky soft fur. The cat's rumbling purr echoed in the mud room. Janice ran into the room. “Me O, why did you run off? You scared us.” She reached over to take the cat from Jack's arms. “Bad kitty.” She rubbed her cheek against the soft, black fur on the top of the cat's head. “What's this?” Jack's hand
Happy Groundhog's Day! Merry Spring Is Coming!
Happy Groundhog's Day! I haven't even checked to see what the groundhog official saw. Here it would have been his shadow. It was very sunny today. Yea! Not that it actually makes a difference, spring won't be here until April or May at the soonest, no matter what some overgrown rodent thinks. But I've been thinking about the garden this year. I want to start some seeds indoors. I want to do that every year. Occasionally it happens. Though most of the sprouts never make it to
Wednesday's post
Less than a week, and already I've messed up. I forgot to put a new blog post up yesterday. Oh well. I am sorry. I am working on it. It's been cold and cloudy lately around here. It's not usually this cloudy. Generally cloudy weather makes me disappointed for two reasons. The first is that if it's going to be cloudy it should rain. We should get some benefit from the lack of sunshine. Unfortunately it rarely rains here. The second reason I'm generally disappointed with cloudy
